The main application is to remove scale and lime deposits accumulated around shower heads, drains, water faucets, and tile. Also, vinegar is excellent for removing stains from carpets, stain on certain metal fixtures and cleaning windows. Secondary uses are creating marinades, salad dressings, and cooking with vinegar.
Remove lime build up on showers heads, use a plastic baggie partially fill it with vinegar. Place the bag over the shower head ensuring the shower head immersed in the vinegar, attached the bag with a rubber band around the piping and let stand for about two hours. Remove the bag, rinse off the shower head. The same technique can be utilized for kitchen faucets. Depending on the metal, vinegar along with a little baking soda is excellent for removing tarnish or discoloration.
Cleaning windows mix half vinegar and water into a spray bottle. Spray the windows and then wipe clean with paper or cloth. Cleaning tile use distilled white vinegar at full strength to achieve maximum cleaning power. Spray the tile with vinegar and let stand for a few minutes, use a sponge, and clean. Use a toothbrush and softly brush the grout until clean if you have exposed grout between the tiles.
When you mix water, soap and vinegar you are creating a very powerful carpet cleaner. Simply blot the mixture on the stain and brush in carefully with a softy toothbrush until the spot is gone. Wait until the carpet has dried and vacuum the remainder off.
Cooking and preparing marinades, vinegar is perfect for cheaper cuts of meat such as beef roasts. Red and white wine vinegar is cheaper and primarily used for marinades and salad dressings. Preparing a vinegar marinade is relatively easy, if the intended marinade is for a beef roast, red wine vinegar is best.
Preparing a marinade is easy. Take a glass or plastic bowl, fill it with ideally red wine vinegar mix in herbs and spices according to your taste. Add some garlic if you like. Place the meat in the marinade, cover tightly and let stand for 24 hours in cool place. It is best to place the bowl in the refrigerator. You can also use different kinds of vinegar like apple cider vinegar for pork ribs or balsamic vinegar for chicken.
To create a delicious and healthy salad dressing use Olive and mix it with a vinegar of your taste. You can use white vinegar or red, or use balsamic vinegar for a smoother taste. Use about 2 spoons of oil for 1 spoon of vinegar, stir in salt and pepper to taste. You have a delicious dressing that won't break the bank.
